Winchester based group the ‘Filipino Association in Central Hampshire’, headed by Glenbert Moday, welcomed Immigration Advisers UK to deliver a seminar last month on the problems faced by students when renewing their Tier 4 visas.

Tier 2 working visa system – a disaster waiting to happen?
Figures released by UCAS on 20 January showed that the rise in student numbers in 2010 was entirely made up of foreign students.
The recent Tier 4 Student Visa immigration policies instituted by the British government were primarily designed to streamline the entry clearance process for foreign nationals wishing to study in the United Kingdom.
The UK Border Agency has published new guidance this week for employers on ‘preventing illegal working’.
Probably the most common questions in my mailbox relate to student visas. Students, employers and even the occasional UK Border Agency officer are confused by the raft of immigration rule changes over the last few years. A major concern is what students should do to stay on the right side of the law when moving college or changing course. The answer to these questions largely depends on when you arrived in the UK and what type of visa you hold.

Returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), or “balikmanggagawa,” from Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte can now process their overseas employment certificates (OECs) without going to the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) head office in Mandaluyong City.
