A Rotary Charity event was held last Wednesday to raise money to eradicate polio.

The event, held at the Hilton Hotel, in Watford, was held by the Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood.

Rotarians from across the country attended the dinner at the Hilton Hotel, in Watford, and the evening generated £1,700 to be donated to the polio eradication fund.

Members were entertained by singers Barbara Jay, Joan Viskant and the Tommy Whittle Quartet who performed the Ella Fitzgerald Songbook.

The money will enable 3,400 children in the world to be protected against polio.

President of the Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood, Charles Kelly, said: “We all enjoyed our celebration and I am delighted that at the end of the evening we were able to travel home in the knowledge we shall provide the polio vaccine for another 3400 children.”

The rotary club meet at the Premier Inn, Elstree Way, in Borehamwood at 12.45pm every Thursday.
