How will Points Based System Whilst transitional arrangements have been extended for Work Permit holders such as Senior Carers, it will not be possible to extend many immigration categories after the points-based System starts in November. A number of existing immigration categories will close when tiers 2 and 5 of the points-based system are implemented. After November, anyone in The popular TWES (Training and Work Experience scheme) will disappear along with a number of temporary, religious and voluntary schemes. The tough new rules have prompted many migrant workers to seek jobs in more welcoming countries such as Canada, which needs low skilled workers in the fast food industry, the United States of America and Australia. Under the categories listed below you and/or your employer should take action before Tiers 2 and 5 are introduced, if you want to extend your stay after your current leave expires. Religious worker in a non -pastoral role International Association for the Exchange of Students of Technical Experience (IAESTE) International Fire Fighter Fellowship Programme EU Leonardo da Vinci Programme China Graduate Work Experience programme Exchange teacher or language assistant Research assistant to a Member of Parliament British Universities North America Club (BUNAC) student Private servant in a diplomatic household Work permit holder - Medical Training Initiative (MTI) Work permit holder - Training and Work Experience Scheme (TWES) Work permit holder - General Agreement in Trade in Services (GATS) The Uk Border Agency has published the following useful table which outlines the categories affected by the introduction of tier 2 and 5.
