Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 Commencement No. 1

ILPA reports that the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2009 SI 2009/2731(C.119) has been made. 

It brings into force, on 2 November 2009:

s 55 (Duty regarding the welfare of children) and related parts of s.56 and the Schedule 

It brings into force on 10 November 2009: 

s 51 (Fingerprinting of foreign criminals liable to automatic deportation) s 54 (Trafficking people for exploitation) 

It brings into force on 13 January 2010: 

s 42 (Children born in UK etc to members of the armed forces) s 43 (Minors); s 44 (British Nationals (Overseas) without other citizenship); s 45 (Descent through the female line); s 46 (Children born outside UK etc to members of the armed forces); s 47 (Good character requirement); s 48 (Meaning of references to being in breach of immigration laws); s 49(1) (Other interpretation etc); plus related parts of s 56 and the Schedule.
