British Diplomat gets 3 Years for Visa Fraud
A married British diplomat, Sharad Ladva, has been sentenced to 3 years prison for faking visas whilst at Britain's Manila Embassy.
He used bogus paperwork to obtain a UK visa for his Filipino girlfriend, and then set her up in a London love nest, Southwark Crown Court had been told. Over a 10-month period Ladva "granted or had other people who worked for him grant false visa applications. In granting those applications, he assisted the applicants to gain entry to the UK.
In order to secure the applications, Ladva would ask his staff to "fast-track" or "facilitate" the paperwork. Ladva "deliberately misused" this process, the court was told.
The first application he fast-tracked was for his girlfriend, Ruth Espaldon. By now Ladva was living in Barking, East London. Ladva of Vicarage Street, Warminster denied the charges, claiming in his defence that although he had fast-tracked the applications he pleaded he had been ignorant of the bogus nature of the applications. His mistress, who had been working for a cleaning company has since disappeared.
Foreign Nurses can still come to the UK, but Work Permits harder to obtain
We have received a number of enquiries from concerned nurses and home owners regarding the Government’s decision to take nurses off the shortage list from 14th August. Despite the move to stop recruiting overseas for the NHS the private care industry in many areas of the country cannot recruit nurses locally and must look to overseas recruitment.
Work Permits will still be granted for overseas nurses, but they will have to meet the resident labour market test. In other words, employers will have to advertise the post before looking overseas, as is the case for Senior Carer recruitment. However, if the Senior Carer experience is anything to go by, obtaining work permits will become difficult and time consuming. If you have any pending overseas RGN applicants, get the work permits in fast.
